At this by-donation event hosted by Community Midwife Annika of Powerhouse Birth, together we will do a deep dive into what it means to prepare for sacred landing, meaningful care, and deep integration in the time after your baby is born.
In a cultural context that nearly entirely ignores the monumental rite of passage bringing a new soul into the world is, this class aims to get real and show you exactly how important this initiation truly is, how you can prepare to step into it with eyes wide open.
A few topics we will unpack:
-The divine physiology of the immediate postpartum
-The spiritual and energetic shifts that happen during and after birth that affect everything
-How to best care for newborn parents and babies
-The 5 universal postpartum needs that span cultures all across the world
-How to begin your concrete planning process as a family
When your baby is born, everything you were, every identity or foundation you had built up to this point will often get disintegrated and washed away. The postpartum time is the phase where we sweep up the remnants of what was, sort through the pieces, and begin to build a new foundation, all with a tiny womb-fresh human on our chest. This class will help you dip your toes into figuring out what YOU need for YOU as you embark in this life-shifting work.
All who have interest in postpartum preparation/education are welcome, you don’t have to be pregnant to attend. Partners + family members are encouraged to attend as well. Small children may have a difficult time sitting through the full workshop—we suggest only babies at the breast or older children attend.
The cost of this workshop is by donation, as we want to provide this important resource to ALL members of our community, no matter their economic status.
Snacks will be provided, and there will be a short break for lunch allotted. We encourage you to pack a lunch if you can, but there are also restaurants nearby for quick pick-up.
The class will be held in the Community Room at Mount Elden Middle School--please look for signs at the main entrance.
TO ATTEND, please sign up through the scheduler below. If you have any questions, please reach out to Annika through the Contact page.
